Stephanie Castillo is the Program Coordinator for the T32 Research Training Program in Gastrointestinal Surgery. She earned her B.A. in International Studies from St. Mary's College in Moraga, California. While in college, she received a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Award, enabling her to travel to Seville, Spain and Rome, Italy to burnish her Italian and Spanish language skills respectively. 

Stephanie began her UCSF career with the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery –where she coordinated Grand Rounds and Endowed Lecture events for the department before later moving to the Division of General Surgery for her current role.  

As Program Coordinator, Stephanie plays a key role in managing operations, organizing projects, program outreach, and strategic planning for the T32 Research Training Program. Stephanie played a key role in developing and launching the T32 Training Program website and will continue to help it grow organically. Stephanie is excited to see the training program continue to provide the 21st century surgeon-scientist with the training necessary to make important new discoveries within the field of gastrointestinal surgery.
